The Arc de Triomphe is an emblematic monument of the city of Paris. You will find at his feet the tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the First World War. There is also an eternal flame commemorating the fallen soldiers.
The rooftop of the Arc de Triomphe is open every day from 10 am to 10:30 pm. It offers an impressive panoramic view of Paris and a nice view of the Champs-Elysées.
Going down the most beautiful avenue in the world, you will find great restaurants, luxury shops, flagships of big brands, but also bars and clubs.
This is an emblematic avenue because several events are held there every year like the procession of July 14, the arrival of the Tour de France … It is also a gathering place where Parisians and French come to celebrate great occasions like the victory of the French soccer team, the New Year’s Eve … It is a real place of life, movement and animation.
Every first Sunday of the month, Avenue des Champs-Elysées is reserved for pedestrians. No car is running, it’s a real pleasure to walk around without the traffic noise.
A little further down, you will find the Grand Palais and its nave classified as historical monuments. This magnificent building is worth the trip, it also hosts exhibitions and fairs.
From September 8, 2018 to September 16, 2018, the art fair “La Biennale de Paris” will take up residence in the monument.
On the exhibition side, the Grand Palais will offer a retrospective of the artist Miro from October 2, 2018 to February 4, 2019. More than 150 works will be exhibited to trace the technical and stylistic evolution of the artist.
In front of the Grand Palais, you will find the Petit Palais which houses the Museum of Fine Arts of the city of Paris. More than 1300 works are permanently exhibited. You can admire masterpieces of the French and Italian Renaissance but also Flemish and Dutch painting.
Finally, the Avenue des Champs-Elysées ends on the Place de la Concorde and its famous obelisk of Luxor. It is the largest square in Paris, facing the Tuileries gardens.
